ARCHIVED WEBINAR :: The New Global Anti-Bribery Landscape Webinar
The growth in anti-bribery laws and enforcement activities internationally poses a relatively new concern for US companies. The Siemens case, the new UK anti-bribery law, and other recent events suggest that the landscape for global anti-bribery efforts may be shifting. Last April, for example, five multilateral development banks (MDB) agreed to cross-debar companies and individuals found guilty of fraud and corruption in MDB-financed projects.
In this one-hour webinar, attorney and anti-bribery expert Jacqueline R. Peterson of K&L Gates will discuss recent developments in this critical area and offer insights into corporate compliance strategies for mitigating risk. Topics to be discussed will include:
- The Essential Elements of the FCPA
- Enforcement Trends
- Managing the Risks of Third-Party Relationships and Acquisitions
- The Importance of Effective Compliance Programs
- International Bribery -- Focus on the new UK Bribery Act
Ms. Peterson’s practice is concentrated in the area of complex litigation, the defense of False Claims Act cases, compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and responding to grand jury investigations and investigations by the SEC, DOJ, FDA, GSA and various other federal and state agencies. She advises companies with business in foreign countries with respect to compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and conducts investigations in relation to prospective and existing foreign agents and business partners. Ms. Peterson has also coordinated and conducted internal and special committee investigations and due diligence projects for both criminal and civil matters. She has acted as lead counsel in numerous domestic (AAA and private), as well as international (ICC), arbitrations and has substantial trial experience at both the state and federal level.
Prior to practicing at K&L Gates, LLP, from 1994 - 1997, Ms. Peterson served as an Assistant State Attorney for the 17th Judicial Circuit, Broward County, Florida where she specialized in the prosecution of crimes involving domestic violence. Ms. Peterson has tried more than sixty jury trials and numerous non-jury trials.
