Implementing Electronic Recordkeeping and Training

Business Challenge:

A leading pharmaceutical company’s legacy paper-based training system was costly, required excessive physical storage space for records, posed substantial risk of lost or damaged records, and required the manual notification of new or revised documents to managers for subsequent release to employees. No mechanism existed to test employees’ comprehension of subject matter, including continually versioned SOPs.

Solution:

The company uses ComplianceWire® to notify each learner directly of all required training under multiple training programs including Human Resources; Environment, Health and Safety; and job-function training. Before signing on to ComplianceWire, each learner must take a 100% pass/fail quiz containing direct information from the applicable SOP. Tests at the end of each course confirm the learner’s comprehension of subject matter. A streamlined system requiring only one password for the centralized system improves the learner experience and facilitates recordkeeping.

Results:
  • Replaced paper-based training with electronic records/training
  • Established learning assessments to measure program effectiveness
  • Centralized separate departmental training systems
  • Reduced training and recordkeeping costs
  • Improved learner experience and comprehension
  • Documented all training in audit-ready format
