Environmental, Health & Safety

For energy companies, even routine operations are inherently high-risk. Accidents can have negative environmental impacts in addition to tragic human consequences, costly compliance violations and long-running litigation. The risk of on-site accidents, spills, employee injuries and damaged facilities is exacerbated by the industry’s fluctuating worker needs and reliance on subcontracted employees who may not be adequately trained and qualified to perform their assigned tasks.

Our industry-tailored services respond to enterprise-wide goals for regulatory compliance, health and safety, environmental protection and standard operating procedures. Continually updated curricula address rapidly evolving regulatory requirements such as OSHA’s slip and fall regulations and the EPA’s maximum exposure limits. Training, testing, validation and documentation can be extended to subcontractors, regardless of location. Training courses are customizable to company-specific requirements for language, culture, job function and employee skill or literacy level.

Safety Trained Supervisor Certification Program

UL’s EH&S Solution is augmented by a specialized Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification program that promotes on-site safety and establishes on-site safety as a corporate commitment to investors, regulators, employees and the public. The STS program is compatible with the OSHA-approved STS program developed by the Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologies (CCHEST) for managers and first-line supervisors.
